Recovered from flu (not Covid) to make season's first turns

First turns of the season

Lots of snow on Big Baldy has already blown away

An empty ski hill behind me.

After that glorious Fall, we took our own fall, catching a flu that hung on for weeks.  It was a painful flu that stopped us cold.  It was so bad we thought we might have Covid, and even tested twice to make sure.

We didn't.

So, I finally got a chance to do some telemark skiing at Showdown on what little snow it has.

The lack of snow has delayed the ski area's opening, so I had the place to myself and I got to check out where I was at physically after being so sick.

I climbed up and did one run on Golden Goose on a thin, but good base.

Although it was Dec. 13 there hasn't been much snow that has stuck around.  What with the prolonged drought, we just haven't had much moisture.

I think this was the latest I've done my first ski of the season.

Here's hoping the promised La Nina arrives!
