Goodbye colorful fall

It was more like the end of summer this weekend with temperatures in the 70s.
But the realist in me understands that with the change from daylight savings time to standard time marks the Montana radical shift to winter-like temperatures.
And indeed, the forecast calls for snow in the mountains the next few days.
This was a time for walks along the Missouri River to see the falls, to watch the migrating birds, to enjoy the last of the colors in the groundcover, and to witness our big, blue sky.
I did my winter prep chores, taking the skis in for tuneup, putting the ski rack on the ski, buying the Showdown bargain anytime passes.
I'm ready for what comes next.
