Mount Sentinel, already climable |
In most years it's the month I most look forward to. Heck, the last dozen years or so it has been the month with the most reliable dumps of snow.
This month has been hit and miss and often not worth going out in.
I have friends who have already begun their climbing seasons as the snow has cleared on many south and west faces.
I was out last week, but it was to climb Mount Sentinel in Missoula a nearly 2,000 foot gain. I did it twice before 6 a.m., when I was there for a conference.
One of the days I got caught in a ferocious snow squall that half frightened me.
Here's hoping April will make up for wimpy March.
